الشرح المختصر :

"Birr" (righteousness) is a word that encompasses all acts of benevolence and goodness, such as honoring one's parents, and obeying them, etc. Righteousness is of two categories: 1. Maintaining ties: which involves using one's position and spending one’s wealth, time, and the like in charitable ways for free, no matter whether the recipient is a relative or a non-relative. 2. Goodness: which involves righteous words and actions. Righteous words require one to say kind and good words, such as greeting someone or the like, whereas righteous actions include every righteous deed that Allah ordered and encouraged us to do, such as all physical acts of worship.
