التعريف :


Fine expression that makes the meaning clear, enabling the addressee to understand what was previously felt to be subtle or ambiguous.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :


Clarifying the speech to the listener and revealing its meaning, whether with words or actions.

الشرح المختصر :


"Bayān" (clarification) means expressing what is meant by the speech to the listener by speaking, acting, writing, or anything else. It is divided into sections: 1. "Bayān at-taqreer" (confirmatory elucidation): confirming the speech in a way that dismisses presumption. 2. "Bayān at-tafseer" (explanatory elucidation): explaining points that involve ambiguity in the speech, such as explaining multi-connotative words, problematic words, words of unspecific indication, or unclear words. 3. "Bayān at-taghyeer" (elucidation by change): changing the implication of speech by abrogation, specification/limitation of general terms, and the like. 4. "Bayān ad-darūrah" (elucidation of necessity): it is a type of "bayān" that is done without the tools of explication, such as remaining silent in a situation of forbidding something. It is usually considered as affirmation.
