To move from one chain of transmission of a hadith to a different chain of the same hadith. This is given the letter ḥ as a symbol. For example, Muslim states the following: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated; Ghundar narrated; from ShuꜤbah [Ḥ] also, Muhammad ibn al-Muthannā and ibn Bashshār narrated; both said: Muhammad ibn JaꜤfar narrated.
