التعريف :
Any action that causes physical, psychological or mental pain deliberately inflicted on a person as a punishment or to force him to make a confession.
المعنى الاصطلاحي :
Punishing someone and disciplining him with every measure that is painful and difficult for him to bear.
التعريف اللغوي المختصر :
"Ta‘dheeb": it is derived from ‘adhdhaba, which means adversity, punishment. It is originally derived from "‘adhb", which means prevention. Other meanings: hurting, causing severe pain.
