impurification (التَّنْجِيسُ)

impurification (التَّنْجِيسُ)

الفقه أصول الفقه

التعريف :

To stain something with impurity.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :

Throwing impurity into something pure.

الشرح المختصر :

"Tanjees" (impurification): "Najāsah" (impurity) is something considered filthy by the Shariah. It hinders the validity of the prayer if it is attached to the worshiper's body, clothes, or place of prayer. When impurity (such as urine or blood) mixes with something pure (such as water or clothes), the pure thing takes the same ruling of impurity in the sense that prayer is not valid as long as it is attached to one's body, clothes, or place of prayer. Muslim jurists call the pure thing rendered impure because of mixing with impurities "mutanajjis". Removal of this accidental impurity according to the Shariah-prescribed manner is called "tat'heer".

التعريف اللغوي المختصر :

"Tanjees": making something impure. Opposite: "tahārah" (purification). "Najis": filthy.
