المعنى الاصطلاحي
Speech of Allah the Almighty, which was revealed to the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, through Jibreel, peace be upon him.
الشرح المختصر
"Tanzeel" is a verbal noun form which refers to the "munazzal" (what was revealed) as it descended ("nazala") from Allah the Almighty. Words of Allah which were revealed to His Messenger, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, are thus called "tanzeel". It is commonly used by scholars, as they say, for example: "It was mentioned in the "tanzeel" (i.e. the Qur'an) that…." Allah the Almighty says: {And indeed, [the Qur'an] is a revelation ("tanzeel") of the Lord of the worlds.} [Surat-ush-Shu`araa: 192]
