A comprehensive word for everything that Allah loves and is pleased with from actions and statements; the apparent and hidden thereof.
“`Uboodiyyah” includes all types of obedience. It has four levels: 1- Statement of the heart, which is belief in what Allah, Exalted, informed about. 2- Statement of the tongue, which is reporting about Allah what He has informed about, remembering Him and calling people to Him. 3- Actions of the heart; such as love for Allah and reliance upon Him. 4- Actions of the limbs; such as prayer. Servitude has two pillars: 1. Complete love. 2. Complete submission and humility. Servitude falls under two categories: 1. General and universal servitude: it is the servitude forced by subjugation and supreme authority. It includes the inhabitants of the heavens and earth; the believers and disbelievers among them. All of them are slaves of Allah, and all are submissive to Allah's universal command. 2. Specific and legislative servitude: it is the servitude of obedience, submission, humility, and love which is out of choice. It is the servitude for which a person is praised, and it is specific to those whom Allah has made successful. From its conditions are: sincerity and compliance with the Prophetic guidance.
"`Uboodiyyah": obedience, offering. "`Uboodiyyah" originally means subservience and lenience. It also means submission and compliance.
Humility and submission to God, doing what he bids us and refraining from what he has forbidden in complete obedience, to draw closer to him, hoping for his reward and ensuring not to incur his punishment. Such submission may not be offered to anyone other than God.
