“Ghadr” (treachery) is prohibited by consensus regardless of being committed against Muslims or non-Muslims. All contractual commitments that Muslims agree to, whether transactional, marital, or of any other kind, are included in the obligation of fulfilling the covenant. It also includes one’s covenants with Allah, may He be Glorified and Exalted, such as vowing to do a non-obligatory good deed, etc. The Muslim"s covenants with others are also included in this.
“Ghadr”: breaking the covenant and not fulfilling one"s responsibility towards it. Opposite: “wafā” (fulfilling promises and covenants).
