Hadith anthologies arranged by the names of the prophet’s companions narrating them.

Books of Hadith that collect the Hadiths narrated by each Companion individually.

الشرح المختصر :


"Masāneed" (Hadith collections Companion-wise) are a type of Hadith compilations. They collect Hadiths arranged according to the Companions' names. There are many of them, including the Musnad of Abu Dawud at-Tayālisi, the Musnad of Ahmad ibn Hanbal, the Musnad of Ad-Dārimi, the Musnad of Abu Ya‘la al-Mawsili, etc. The "masāneed" are not included among the six major books of Hadith: the two Sahihs and the four Sunans (Sahih Al-Bukhāri, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dāwūd, Sunan An-Nasā’i, Sunan At-Tirmithi, and Sunan Ibn Mājah).

التعريف اللغوي المختصر :


"Masāneed" (sing. musnad): reliable, dependable. Derived from "sunood", which means something joined to another. Other meanings: elevated, high.
