المعنى الاصطلاحي :
Those whom the judge send to inquire about the state of the witnesses and ask those who know them.
الشرح المختصر :
“As-hāb Al-Masā’il” (Inquiry messengers) are those whom the judge send to inquire about the state of the witnesses and ask those who know them. These people must be trustworthy and free of animosity towards the people. They must not know each other lest they conspire to agree on an unobjective assessment of the witnesses.
