"Misr" (large city/metropolis) is a place inhabited by groups of people who practice various professions and others. It contains a large mosque where the congregational prayer is held, markets, and public utilities. It is governed by a ruler, or his deputy, who implements the corporal punishments prescribed for crimes and applies the rulings of the Shariah.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر :

"Misr": town, city. Original meaning: boundary or border between two things; hence, the country of Egypt, whose Arabic name is "Misr", was given this name because it is considered a border between the geographic end of the Orient (East) and the start of the Occident (West).
