التعريف :
The signs showing God’s limitless power which encourage man to think and contemplate, leading to the belief in God’s oneness and might.
المعنى الاصطلاحي :
"Āyah" (pl. āyāt): anything that indicates and guides to Allah.(2)
الشرح المختصر :
Allah's "āyāt" are the indications, clear evidence, and signs that show the way to Him and guide to worshipping Him alone. Allah's signs are of two categories: 1. Cosmic signs: i.e. all created beings, e.g. the heavens, earth, stars, mountains, trees, animals, etc. 2. Shar`iee signs: i.e. the revelations that the Messengers conveyed, e.g. the Qur'an and Sunnah.
