A term used by the Ḥanafī school, referring to something that is akin to due performance in one sense and akin to delayed performance in another; e.g. A person who joins a congregational prayer in progress must complete his prayer after the Imam has finished. From the timing point of view, he is on time, but from the point of view of congregational prayer he is compensating for what he missed.
