التعريف :
A gift given freely, without expectation of something in return, nor having any purpose in mind.
المعنى الاصطلاحي :
Transferring the ownership of a property or a benefit to someone else during one"s lifetime in exchange for nothing, whether it is done for the sake of Allah, or as an act of endearment.
الشرح المختصر :
"‘Atiyyah" (gift) means when someone who has the power of alienation donates something of his property, which is known and exists, in his lifetime without receiving anything in exchange, whether as a charity or gift.
التعريف اللغوي المختصر :
"‘Atiyyah": a name of what is given. It is derived from "‘atw" which means taking or receiving.
