appeal for help (الْاِسْتِغَاثَة)

To appeal to God for immediate help and to supplicate that he would give him support and remove his distress. If the appeal is made to someone other than God but for something that only God can do, it becomes a form of associating partners with God. An example is to make such an appeal to dead people. An appeal for help to a present human being is permissible, if the requested help is within his ability.
