Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite the Qur'an to us. When he reached (a verse of) a prostration, he would say: "Allah is the Greatest!" and prostrate and we would prostrate with him.

شرح الحديث :

This Hadīth says that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite the Qur'an to his Companions. Whenever he reached a verse indicating a prostration, he would say ''Allah is the Greatest!'' and prostrate. The Companions would likewise prostrate. This Hadīth is weak. A worthier tradition is one that Al-Bukhāri narrated from Ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) who related that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) read Sūrat An-Najm and prostrated after finishing it and, with no exception, everyone else prostrated too.
