Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: A man from Banu ‘Adyy was killed. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) decided that his blood money should be twelve thousand (dirhams).
Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported in this Hadīth that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) decided twelve thousand silver dirhams as the blood money for the murder of a man from the tribe of Banu ‘Adyy. This Hadīth can be interpreted that the murderer did not have any camels to pay at that time of Judgment; or that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) reconciled between the victim's kin and the murderer's by that amount. This Hadīth, however, does not contradict the established principle that blood money is to be paid in camels.
