Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A believer will be brought close to his Lord on the Day of Resurrection and enveloping him in His mercy, He will make him confess his sins, by saying: 'Do you remember (doing) this sin and this sin?' He will reply: 'My Lord, I remember.' Then He will say: 'I covered it up for you in the life of world, and I forgive it for you today.' Then the record of his good deeds will be handed to him."

شرح الحديث :

Allah, the Almighty, will bring the believer close to Him, conceal him from the gathered creation, and make him secretly confess his sins and misdeeds, saying: Do you remember such and such sin? Do you remember that sin? He will admit and reply in the affirmative. Then, Allah will say: I concealed these sins for you in worldly life and did not expose you among the people, and now I will likewise conceal them today and forgive you.
