Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Almighty, said: Spend, O son of Adam, you will be spent on."

شرح الحديث :

Spend, Allah will spend on you; i.e. do not fear poverty by spending money and giving in charity, and do not be stingy. If you spend on other than yourself, Allah, the Almighty, will spend on you because: ﴿Whatever you have will end, but what Allah has is lasting﴾ [Sūrat An-Nahl: 96]ز This Hadīth reflects the meaning of the verse: ﴿whatever thing you spend (in His cause), He will compensate it; and He is the best of providers﴾ [Sūrat Saba': 39]. It encourages spending in righteous causes and gives glad tidings to the spenders that Allah will compensate them with His mercy for whatever they spend in this regard.
