Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said that Allah said: "The son of Adam tells a lie against Me and he has no right to do so; and he insults Me and has no right to do so. His lying against Me is his saying that I will not resurrect him as I created him for the first time. In fact, the first creation was not easier for Me than resurrecting him again (they are both easy for Me). His insult to Me is his saying that Allah has begotten a son, while I am The One, The Eternal Refuge, Who begets not nor was He begotten, and there is none like unto Me."

شرح الحديث :

This is a Qudsi Hadīth in which the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informs us that Allah, the Almighty, addresses a category of humankind that denies resurrection after death. Those deniers include the Arab polytheists, idol worshipers, and the Christians as it will be explained later in the Hadīth. Those people have told a lie against Allah. They should not do so, nor should Allah be belied. Another category of humankind has insulted Allah by attributing imperfection to Him. Those abusers are the ones who attribute a son to Allah, the Almighty, as it will be explained later. They should not have insulted Allah, nor should Allah be insulted. Then, Allah explains what is meant by humans' lie and insult to Him. Lying against Allah is to claim that He will not bring man to life again as He created him/her from nothing before. This claim is tantamount to disbelief and denial. Allah, however, refuted their claim by stating that starting the creation from nothing is not easier for Him than resurrection after death; rather, both are equally easy for Him. In addition, resurrection is usually easier since the base and fabric of the body already exist. Insulting Allah by human beings, however, is to attribute children to Him. Allah says in the Qur'an: ﴿The Jews say: "Ezra is the son of Allah"; and the Christians say: "The Messiah is the son of Allah"﴾ [Sūrat At-Tawbah: 30]. Also, the Arab disbelievers said that angels are Allah’s daughters. All these claims are a flagrant insult to Allah because it involves attributing imperfection and defects to Him and treating Him like the creation. Allah responds to such falsehood by saying that He is the absolutely unique One in terms of His essence and attributes. He is free from all imperfections, and to Him belong all perfect attributes. Allah is the Eternal Refuge and Self-Sufficient. All are in need of Him, and He possesses the perfect kinds of honor and sovereignty. Allah is neither a father nor a son to anyone, as He is the First with no beginning and the Last with no end. There is nothing like unto Him, and this negated likeness includes not being a father, a son, a spouse, or the like.
