المعنى الاصطلاحي

Those who show animosity towards ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib, may Allah be pleased with him, and his household, with words or actions.

الشرح المختصر

“Nawaasib” (those who hate the Prophet's household) are those who show animosity towards the Prophet’s household and harm them with their words and actions, especially ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib. Some of them insult him, while others regard him as defiantly disobedient to Allah, the Almighty, and some others declare him a disbeliever. Nonetheless, they show loyalty and love for the rest of the Companions. Showing animosity and hatred to the Prophet’s family or any other Companion is one of the most serious religious innovations; it stirs doubts about this religion, which was conveyed to us through the Companions, the Prophet’s household, as well as others. The creed of Ahl-us-Sunnah wa al-Jamaa‘ah is balanced and lies in the middle between two extremes: the “Nawaasib” and the Rafidites. They love the Prophet’s family and show allegiance to them and disavow the creed of the Rafidites, who hate and curse the Companions, and the creed of the “Nawaasib”, who revile the Prophet’s household.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر
