Two large tribes from the descendants of Yāfith, the son of Nūh (Noah), peace be upon him. They will emerge at the time of ‘Isā (Jesus), peace be upon him, and will wreak havoc and corruption on earth until Allah, the Almighty, destroys them.

الشرح المختصر

"Ya’jooj" and "Ma’jooj" (Gog and Magog) are two huge tribes. They are from the offspring of Adam, peace be upon him, and they will emerge after ‘Isā (Jesus), peace be upon him, after he descends and defeats the Antichrist. They will emerge from behind the barricade that Dhul-Qarnayn built. They will cause great destruction on earth, to the point that the Muslims along with ‘Isā, peace be upon him, will be forced to retreat to their forts and citadels. Allah will then infect them with nasal myiasis - parasites that live in the noses of camels and sheep - after which they will die. Then He will send camel-sized birds with long necks that will carry them and dispose of them wherever Allah orders. After that, Allah will let the sky rain and wash the earth from their decomposed bodies. They were named "Ya’jooj" and "Ma’jooj" due to their great numbers, they will act like the "ajeej" (the crackling sound) of flames when the fire rages. They have been present on earth ever since the time of Dhul-Qarnayn, but they are trapped somewhere. When Allah wishes for them to emerge, He will empower them in a huge way, so no one will be able to stand in their way until Allah, the Almighty, perish them. Their existence does not necessitate that their location be known to people.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر

"Ya’jooj" and "Ma’jooj": Derived from "ajja", which means the crackling sound of flames, or from "ujāj", which means too salty. It is also said that they are two non-Arabic names of two tribes from the offspring of Adam, peace be upon him.

Two very large human communities. Dhul-Qarnayn erected a rampart to prevent them from encroaching on neighbouring communities because they spread corruption. At a time close to the day of judgement, they will be able to break through the rampart and sweep the earth, spreading much corruption for a while, but they will then be eradicated.
