المعنى الاصطلاحي :


The foundations upon which something is established and without which it cannot be achieved.

الشرح المختصر :


"Arkān" (pillars) are the foundations and bases upon which something is built and without which it cannot be achieved, such as the pillars of Islam, which are: testifying that there is no deity worthy of worship but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; offering (the five obligatory) prayers; giving Zakah (mandatory charity); fasting Ramadan; and making Hajj (pilgrimage) for those who can find a way thereto.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر :


"Arkān" (sing. rukn), which means the foundation and strongest side of something. The "arkān" of a thing are its sides and foundations by which it is supported and upon which it is established. Other meanings: the mainstay and support of something, a part, a great issue.
