Deafness (الطَّرَشُ)

Deafness (الطَّرَشُ)

أصول الفقه

المعنى الاصطلاحي :

Hardness and weakness of hearing that does not reach the level of deafness, which is complete loss of hearing.

الشرح المختصر :

"Tarash" (deafness) means deficiency in the sense of hearing or physical damage that prevents hearing. The damage can be due to the lack of the cavity that is situated inside the ear, which picks up sound waves. Such damage is called "samam". It may also be caused by something that disrupts the sense of hearing while the organ itself remains sound; this is called "waqr". Or it may be caused by something that only undermines the sense of hearing, like a person who can hear from a close distance but not from afar. So, "tarash" can be used to refer to deficiency or complete damage of the sense of hearing.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر :

"Tarash": deafness, or hardness of hearing short of deafness.
