A name given to Ahl-us-Sunnah wal-Jamā‘ah by the religious innovators to highlight the former"s lack of understanding and knowledge.
"Hashawiyyah" (A discrediting designate) is a term that does not have a specific designation in the Shariah, the Arabic language, or the common usage. Rather, it is a term used by the misguided sects to discredit Ahl-us-Sunnah wal-Jamā‘ah. They use this word to mean "those who are the lowest and meanest of people whose statements regarding religion are insignificant." They, according to givers of the name, are misguided, and thus are defamed in the sight of people. The "Mu‘tazilah" give this name to those who affirms the divine decree, whereas the "Jahmiyyah" give it to those who affirm Allah"s attributes and so on. Deniers of Allah"s attributes use the word "Hashawiyyah" to mean that those affirming Allah"s attributes are worthless and insignificant among people. The ignorants among this sect think that the term is given to those people because they have stuffed Allah with the worlds by saying that Allah the Exalted is in the heavens and above His creation.
"Hashawiyyah": unreliable people, insignificant speech. It is derived from "hashw" which means redundancy.
