من موسوعة المصطلحات الإسلامية

المعنى الاصطلاحي

Wives of the believers in Paradise, dark-eyed and of perfect beauty.

الشرح المختصر

Allah gives in marriage to the male believers in Paradise beautiful wives other than their wives of the world: {And We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.} [Surat-ud-Dhukaan: 54] The "hoor" are from among Allah's creation in Paradise. Allah created them as virgins that were never touched before. They are as pure as concealed gems. They are satisfied with their husbands beyond need to look at any other men. They never leave their tents.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر

''Hoor'' (sing. ahwar/hawraa): houri. It is derived from ''hawar'' which means the marked contrast between the white of the cornea and the black of the iris.
