Saamirah (Jewish sect)
(سامرة)

من موسوعة المصطلحات الإسلامية

المعنى الاصطلاحي

A religious sect from the Jews named after Saamir. They have their own special beliefs that oppose the religion of the Jews.

الشرح المختصر

The "Saamirah" (Jewish sect) is a religious sect that only acknowledges the first five books of the Torah, as well as the Book of Joshua, and the Book of Judges. Their version of the Torah is different from that of the Jews. They are those who remained living in a place called Shakeem, and they say that the holy city is Nablus. They do not consider Bayt-ul-Maqdis to be sacred nor do they respect or honor it. Their direction of prayer is Mount Gerizim between Bayt-ul-Maqdis and Nablus. They do not acknowledge any prophethood among the Children of Israel after Musa (Moses) and Joshua. Their origin goes back to the division of the kingdom of Sulaymaan (Solomon), peace be upon him, into two kingdoms, the Northern Kingdom, whose capital was Saamirah, and the Southern Kingdom, whose capital was Jerusalem. They call themselves "Shomrim" which means "the guards of religion". The traditional Jewish resources consider them a mix of people who do not belong to the pure Jewish blood and lineage.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر
