The fight between two people or more with weapons.
"Qitaal" (armed combat) is the fight between two people or more with weapons, either to harm someone or to defend oneself from harm. It is of two types: 1. Legitimate "qitaal", which includes fighting the disbelievers who are engaged in war with Muslims, fighting the apostates, fighting those who rebel against the Muslim ruler, fighting those who refuse to perform religious obligations, such as zakah, and fighting to defend one's honor, life or wealth. 2. Illegitimate "qitaal", which is fighting others out of oppression, such as fighting other Muslims, fighting non-Muslim subjects who live in Muslim countries, and fighting someone to steal his money or the like.
"Qitaal": fighting, combat. Original meaning of "qatl": killing.
