"Hawaam" (vermin) is of two kinds: 1. A parasitic kind that lives, reproduces, and feeds on living bodies, such as ticks on the bodies of animals and lice on the bodies of humans. 2. A non-parasitic kind, such as ants, tiny insects, worms, fleas, mosquitoes, flies, and bedbugs.
"Hawaam": (sing. haammah): any animal that contains deadly poison, such as a snake and a scorpion. Other meanings: all animals that crawl on the ground, even if not deadly, such as insects. Original meaning: creeping or crawling.
