المعنى الاصطلاحي
It is the ablution that is prescribed for an act of worship while the act of worship is still valid without it.
الشرح المختصر
"Wudoo' mandoob" (recommended ablution) is every ablution that is not a condition or a requirement for the validity of an act of worship. It only adds to the perfection of that act of a worship, such as performing ablution before reciting Qur’an (without touching the script), remembering Allah ("dhikr"), calling the azan, sleeping, and other verbal and physical acts that are not invalidated because the person did not perform ablution before them, nor does he bear any sin for not performing ablution before them.
