A weight unit which differs with different articles being weighed. If weighing gold it is equal to 29.75 Grams, and for silver 119 grams. For other articles 127 grams.

الشرح المختصر :


"Ooqiyyah" is a measurement used to weigh things. Its quantity varies according to the goods, and it differs across countries. Silver "ooqiyyah": 1920 grains = 40 dirhams: 119 grams. Gold "ooqiyyah": 29.75 grams. Other than silver or gold "ooqiyyah": 127 grams. It differs across countries. In Egypt, it equals 24 grams. In the south of Syria, it equals 200 grams, in north Syria, it equals 333 grams.
