التعريف :


To obey one’s father and mother in whatever is reasonable and legitimate, to be kind to them, treat them gently and lovingly, fulfilling what is due to them and what makes them happy.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :


Dutifulness to the parents and treating them kindly in word and deed during their life and after their death.

الشرح المختصر :


"Birr-ul-waalidayn" (dutifulness to parents) is achieved by obeying them, treating them kindly, showing them love and respect, and seeking to please them with all permissible means. The "waalidayn" are the parents, but it also includes the grandparents, regardless of whether they are Muslims or not. It is also from "birr-ul-waalidayn" to honor their relatives and friends after their death.
