التعريف :


A plant of the nightshade family, with a bitter taste. Its leaves are cured by a process of drying and fermentation for smoking or chewing.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :


A plant that belongs to the Solanaceae family of plants (genus Nicotiana). It is consumed by smoking and chewing and in other ways.

الشرح المختصر :


"Tabagh" (tobacco) is a plant that is dried and then consumed by smoking, chewing, or sniffing. It is frequently used in making cigarettes. It originated in America, and the Arabs in the past did not know it. It was introduced in the tenth century AH, and the first to bring it to the Ottoman Empire were the English. The first one to bring it to Morocco was a Jew who claimed that he was a medicine man, then it was introduced to Egypt, Hijaz, India, and most Islamic countries.
