Slow and measured recitation in which the meanings are pondered and the rules are observed with the purpose of teaching.
“Tahqeeq” (verifying/measured recitation) is one of three levels of the proper recitation of the Qur’an: “tahqeeq”, “tadweer”, and “hadr”. 1. “Tahqeeq” means the extremely measured manner of recitation in which every letter, movement, and sound is uttered most properly. It is intended to train the tongue and straighten the letters with the aim of producing a beautiful, measured recitation. 2.“Tadweer” is the moderately paced recitation in which the rules are observed. 3.“Hadr” is the quick recitation in which the rules are observed.
“Tahqeeq”: verifying, correcting. It is derived from “haqq”, which means authentic, true. Opposite: "bātil" (false). Original meaning: perfecting. Other meanings: reaching the end of something, affirming, ascertaining, rectifying, straightening, finding.
