sanctification (التَّقْدِيْسُ)

العقيدة الفقه الثقافة والدعوة

التعريف :

To venerate and hold someone as immune to all that is unbecoming or censurable.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :

Sanctifying Allah with the attributes of perfection and beauty, and exalting Him above all deficiencies and faults.

الشرح المختصر :

"Taqdīs" (sanctification) is the ultimate sanctification of Allah alone without partners, owing to His attributes of greatness, majesty, and perfection. Allah's names are beautiful; His actions are fully wise; His legislation is just and merciful; and His favors upon His slaves are abundant. He alone is worthy of ultimate holiness. Al-Quddūs is one of Allah's names. It means that Allah is great and perfect in His essence, attributes, and names. Allah is pure and free from every deficiency and blemish. He purifies the hearts of His close slaves, and purifies them with knowledge, belief, and good deeds. Anyone else is given sanctification only according to their status in Allah's sight and according to his level of conformity to Allah’s laws. Any sanctification that exceeds these limits is forbidden: Allah does not allow it. As such, humans are to be sanctified as per their compliance with Shariah. Sanctifying other than Allah falls under two categories: 1. Sanctification that Allah permits, i.e. within Shariah limits, be that of Allah, or of a created thing such as certain places and times whose merit and high status is mentioned in the Shariah wherein Allah prescribed specific beloved worship in these places and times. 2. Sanctification that Allah does not permit, i.e. which exceeds the limits of His divine laws, is prohibited sanctification.
