metempsychosis (التَّنَاسُخ)

metempsychosis (التَّنَاسُخ)

العقيدة أصول الفقه

التعريف :

A belief of some groups, such as the Sabaʾīs, Jārūdīs and Druze that at death, the human soul transmigrates from a human being to another, and that only the body dies, but not the soul. This is different from the Nuṣayrīs’ belief that metempsychosis could be between humans, and at times between humans and animals, which is ‘metamorphosis’. The Druze absolutely reject the idea of metamorphosis, to the extent that they replaced the word ‘metempsychosis’ by ‘reincarnation’. The belief in metempsychosis has its origins in Buddhism and Hinduism.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :

The transfer of the share of an heir to his own heirs by his death before the estate of the first deceased is divided.

الشرح المختصر :

"Tanāsukh" (transfer of inheritance) takes place when one or more of the heirs of a deceased person die before the estate is divided, so their share is transferred to their own heirs. Such transfer of inheritance from the primary heir to the secondary heir before the estate is divided is called "Tanāsukh" because the money is transferred from one heir to another.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر :

"Tanāsukh": transfer; derived from "naskh" which means copying, transmitting, and altering. Other meanings: succession and circulation.
