Affectation and going to extremes in religious affairs in words and actions contrary to the Islamic teachings
Exaggeration and going to extremes in religious affairs is of three categories: 1. In speech: when one speaks unfamiliar words that people cannot understand. 2. In deduction: which is the way of the scholastic theologians and logicians who turned away from making deductions based on the Qur'an and Sunnah and used instead the logical principles and scholastic terminologies. 3. In worship: which is exceeding the permissible limit in worship and going to extremes in affairs, and this is the monasticism of the Christians.
"Tanattu`": going deep into something and exaggerating and bragging about it. It is derived from the word "nita`', which is the palate (the top part of the inside of the mouth). Then it is used for all types of exageration in words and actions.
To go deep into something, resort to affectation or go into excess in belief, word or action.
