al-TanꜤīm (التَّنْعِيمُ)

التعريف :


A place in the northwest of Makkah, which borders the Haram area of Makkah at the direction to Madinah. It hosts the ꜤĀʾishah mosque.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :


A place in Makkah outside the boundaries of the Haram. It is a "meeqāt" (stated place), where residents of Makkah can enter into the state of "ihrām" (ritual state of consecration which a Muslim must enter to perform Hajj or ‘Umrah).

الشرح المختصر :


“At-Tan‘eem” is a place outside the boundaries of the Haram, about 3-4 miles (approximately 6 kilometers) away from Al-Masjid al-Harām (the Holy Mosque of Makkah). Located northwest of Makkah, “At-Tan’eem” borders the Haram from the direction of Madinah. It is the nearest place of "Al-Hill" (area outside the boundaries of the Haram) to the Holy Mosque, where the Mosque of ‘A’ishah is located.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر :


“At-Tan‘eem”: leading a luxurious and comfortable life. It is the name of a place in Makkah. It was named thus because it is located between a mountain called Nu‘aym on the right and another one called Nā‘im on the left; it overlooks a valley called Na‘mān.
