المعنى الاصطلاحي

Worshipping Allah with sincerity and staying away from the worship of idols.

الشرح المختصر

"Haneefiyyah" (Hanifism) is the religion of Ibrāhim (Abraham), peace be upon him, that Allah instilled in human nature, commanded people to follow, and singled out for them. It is the Muhammadan belief that is the only belief acceptable to Allah. It is the reality of Islam which Allah sent all the messengers to preach: belief in Allah as one, belief in His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, fate, and not worshipping idols. The "Haneef" is the upright person who adheres to Islam, the one who turns toward Allah and stays away from everything other than Him. Those who do not adhere to "Haneefiyyah" are the disbelievers, including the People of the Book and others.
