The state of having an attentive tranquil heart and composed limbs in prayer.
"Khushoo‘" (humble submissiveness) is a great act of worship whereby the limbs and senses are still and at peace. It involves two meanings: 1. Humility and submissiveness. 2. Stillness and tranquility. This requires softness of the heart, not hardheartedness. For the heart to have "khushoo‘", it has to be tranquil and willingly enslaved to Allah.
"Khushoo‘": submission, quiescence, subservience. A person who has "khushoo‘" in their prayer is wholeheartedly engaged in it. Derived from "kasha‘a", which is the state of a land when it is calm and peaceful.
A mental sort of worship showing submission and humility before God, and characterised by calmness, reassurance and recognition of need of God’s help and guidance.
