المعنى الاصطلاحي :

Any statement that includes glorification of Allah and expressing love for Him.

الشرح المختصر :

"Dhikr" (remembrance of Allah) is an act of worship performed by the tongue and the heart. It is the best of deeds and acts of obedience. It encompasses the slave's praise of his Lord, whether by speaking of Allah's essence, His Attributes, His Actions, His Rulings, or by reciting His Book (the Qur’an), or by asking Him through supplications. "Dhikr" also includes sanctifying Allah, glorifying Him, declaring His Oneness, praising Him, thanking Him and venerating Him, as well as invoking Allah's peace and blessings upon His Messenger, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him. All of this is done with the intention of drawing closer to Allah and seeking His reward.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر :

"Dhikr" (pl. adhkaar): pronouncing words with the tongue. Other meanings: remembering and recalling something in the heart.
