The imam appointed by the ruler or his representative to lead the congregational prayer.
The "raatib" (regular imam) is the person whom the ruler, his representative, or someone who has established a masjid as an endowment has appointed to have the priority over other present worshipers in leading the people in prayer, even if he has the least share of knowledge or memorization of the Qur’an or he is the youngest of them.
"Raatib": stable, fixed. Opposite: "zaa’il" (transient) and "mutadhabdhib" (fluctuating). Other meanings: enduring, continuous.
Something that is well-ordered and smooth-running. Hence, the term refers to a person’s daily, weekly or monthly remuneration for his or her work.
