التعريف :


A certain type of obligatory or recommended worship that includes well-known words and actions, starting with a glorification of God, takbīr, and ending with the peace greeting.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :


A set of statements and actions that starts with "takbeer" (saying "Allahu Akbar") and ends with "tasleem" (saying "as-salāmu ‘alaykum").

الشرح المختصر :


"Salah" (prayer) is a set of known actions (standing, sitting, bowing, prostrating) and certain statements (recitation of Qur’an, dhikr [expressions of remembrance of Allah], and others) that starts with "takbeerat al-ihrām" (saying "Allahu Akbar" to start the prayer) and ends with "tasleem" (saying "as-salāmu ‘alaykum"). It is performed at assigned times with specific conditions, such as being in a state of purity, facing the "qiblah" (prayer direction), etc.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر :


"Salah": praising and supplicating for goodness. Other meanings: wishing someone blessings, glorifying, praising, showing mercy.
