"‘Uzlah" (isolation/seclusion) is a tendency towards solitude that makes one to isolate himself from people, give up talking or dealing with them. He does this by secluding himself on a mountain, in a countryside, at the sea coast, in a house, etc. "‘Uzlah" is of two types: 1. "‘Uzlah badaniyyah" (physical isolation): this is the meaning intended here, which is refraining from getting together with people and dealing with them. 2. "‘Uzlah qalbiyyah" (sentimental isolation): it is to abandon despicable manners and shun evil words and deeds.
"‘Uzlah": avoiding something and abandoning it. Other meanings: withdrawing, distancing oneself (from something), quitting.
To stay away from people and not to mix with them.
