التعريف :


A sacrifice offered in gratitude to God, on the birth of a child, with a particular intention and certain conditions.

المعنى الاصطلاحي :


The animal slaughtered on the occasion of the birth of a baby with the intention of getting closer to Allah.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر :


"‘Aqeeqah": the sacrificial animal slaughtered to celebrate the birth of a baby on his/her seventh day. Derived from the noun "‘aq", which means: splitting (of a sheep's throat).
