"Al-fāsiq" (disobedient person) is the sinner who commits various forms of disobedience, either by neglecting the obligations like “Saum” (fasting in Ramadan) and paying “Zakah” (charity) and so on; or committing the major sins like drinking intoxicants, fornication and adultery, and so on. The original meaning of “fisq” is disobedience to Allah including doing the major sins, and persistently doing the minor sins. The minor sins are things that the Islamic law has prohibited without designating a specific punishment in this life or in the Hereafter, like looking at a woman who is not closely related to and is lawful to marry.
"Al-fāsiq": violating obedience and uprightness. It is said: he "fasaqa" from his Lord"s commands: stopped obeying Him. Original meaning: something exiting from something else in order to corrupt it.
