التعريف :
That God has placed man in charge of the earth so that he may build life on it, enforce God’s purpose and will in it and implement his laws.
المعنى الاصطلاحي :
A state in which the imam assigns one of the worshipers to substitute him in leading the prayer due to a reason that prevents him from continuing it.
الشرح المختصر :
"Istikhlāf" (appointing a successor) generally means that a person appoints another person to replace him in performing a duty. An example is when the imam chooses a man to take his place in leading the worshipers in prayer and complete it on his behalf. The imam does so when something occurs that prevents him from proceeding with the prayer.
التعريف اللغوي المختصر :
"Istikhlāf": appointing someone as a deputy or successor. It is derived from "khalaf", which means replacement and substitution.
