It is either congenital since birth; due to not being a native speaker of Arabic; or caused by a physical impediment, disease, or fear and the like. It has various manifestations: 1- "Tamtamah", which is the repetition of the /m/ and /t/ sounds. 2- "Fa'fa'ah", which is the frequent repetition of the /f/ sound in speech. 3- "Ta'ta'ah", which is the frequent repetition of the /t/ sound. 4- Stammering, which is the frequent repetition of a single sound while speaking, such as the /r/ or the /q/ sounds. It is not restricted to the /f/ sound.
"Luknah": speaking without fluency and eloquence. "Alkan": one who cannot speak Arabic correctly and lucidly.
That the speaker drops or replaces a sound in a word. A person who does so is called alkan.
