A word that diverges from others in name and meaning, such as "man" and "horse", which are different.
الشرح المختصر
"Mutabāyin" (divergent) is one of the kinds of Arabic words; it is that which indicates a meaning that is different from other words. "Horse" and "man" are two different words that have different meanings. Most of the Arabic words are of that type. It is called thus because of the difference in both word and meaning, i.e. the two words are different from each other in terms of word and meaning.
