Anything whose equivalent is available in the market without any significant difference that causes a difference in price.
"Mithliyyāt" (fungible items) are the goods which are weighed or measured and for which it is permissible to take an advance payment. Another definition: items whose individual units are similar and could replace each other without any significant difference or change in the price. This applies to the similar items that are weighed, measured, or invariably counted, such as walnuts or eggs. The opposite is non-fungible items, such as animals, trade inventory, real-estate, and variably countable goods. It is also called "qeemi" or "‘ayn".
"Mithliyyāt" (sing. mithli): what is similar and equivalent. Other meanings: equality between two things.
Similar articles are available in the market, without significant difference, other than the two currencies (i.e. Gold and silver), whether measured in volume, weight or number.
